Port Bolivar
Port Bolivar is the peninsula-side landing for the ferry crossing at the entrance to Galveston Bay. The service carries road vehicles and their passengers between Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island, forming the waterborne link in State Highway 87. Its everyday role combines local transport with access for visitors travelling along the coast.
The Texas Department of Transportation operates the crossing. Vehicles use loading ramps at the two landings, while terminal areas provide space for traffic waiting to board. The route passes across the bay entrance, where ferry movements share the wider waterway with commercial shipping.
This makes Bolivar a transport connection between two coastal communities. The ferry landing is the relevant passenger facility here; the cargo terminals elsewhere around Galveston Bay belong to a much wider port system.
