Nouadhibou: fishing and commercial quays on the bay
Nouadhibou’s urban port combines fishing activity with commercial cargo handling on the sheltered side of the Cap Blanc peninsula. Its quays form part of a wider maritime economy spread around the bay, with different facilities serving fisheries, supplies and mineral exports.
The commercial waterfront includes a pier and adjoining quays, with a fishing quay nearby. This close relationship between cargo handling and fishing supports businesses involved in landing, trading and transporting products from the surrounding waters.
The major iron-ore facilities farther south at Pointe Central are a separate operation linked to SNIM. Their ship-loading infrastructure and deepened approach should be distinguished from the fishing and commercial harbour nearer the town, even though both are commonly associated with Nouadhibou.
