Port of Moji
Moji’s Tachinoura district is a container-handling centre within the Port of Kitakyushu, near the eastern approaches to the Kanmon Strait. Its working waterfront forms part of Moji’s long-standing role in maritime trade between Kyushu and overseas markets.
Tachinoura has two container terminal areas equipped with gantry cranes and storage yards. Facilities for refrigerated containers and a nearby cold store support temperature-sensitive goods, while cargo consolidation services accommodate shipments that share container space.
This combination serves both full-container traffic and smaller consignments moving through the regional economy. The freight district has a distinct function within the wider Moji waterfront, connecting shipping routes with storage and distribution while the older central harbour remains closely associated with the area’s maritime heritage.
