Port of Stanley
Stanley’s harbour supports cargo supply, fishing activity and cruise visits within an enclosed basin reached through Port William. The town stands along its southern shore, placing maritime activity close to the islands' main administrative and commercial centre.
The Falklands Interim Port and Storage System, known as FIPASS, uses linked floating structures to provide working berths and storage facilities. Cargo operations and fish transhipment are important uses of the installation, connecting visiting vessels with shore-based handling and services.
Passenger access also takes place through the public jetty and pontoons, where launches bring people ashore from ships. This differs from the cargo work at FIPASS: the harbour accommodates several kinds of maritime visit, with separate facilities supporting freight movements, fishing vessels and the arrival of cruise passengers.
