Port of Willemstad
Willemstad’s harbour links a narrow urban entrance at St Anna Bay with the broad inner waters of Schottegat. This natural layout brings passenger shipping close to the city while placing much of the cargo and industrial waterfront farther inside the bay.
Schottegat contains the container terminal, cargo wharves and dry-dock facilities. Together, these support the movement of goods and ship-repair activity within the sheltered harbour, giving Willemstad a maritime role that extends beyond passenger visits.
Cruise vessels use the Megapier near the entrance and berths along the Otrobanda side of St Anna Bay. The separation between the inner working harbour and the central cruise waterfront allows freight, repair work and tourism to occupy different parts of the same port system.
