Port of Pointe Noire

Pointe-Noire combines container operations with facilities for bulk and liquid commodities. A breakwater protects the commercial harbour, where specialised handling and storage areas support several different cargo streams.

Congo Terminal forms the centre of the container business, including transhipment between shipping services and traffic serving the surrounding market. The wider port provides warehouses and bonded storage, together with silos for wheat and cement and tanks for hydrocarbons and vegetable oils.

These facilities connect ocean shipping with regional supply chains extending towards the Congo Basin. Container yards serve packaged goods, while commodity terminals support food, construction and energy requirements. Their different storage and handling arrangements give the harbour a broader economic role than container traffic alone would suggest.
