Port of Brisbane
Brisbane’s port follows the lower river from industrial wharves towards the cargo terminals at Fisherman Islands. This arrangement brings together container traffic, vehicles, liquid cargo and dry bulk within a port serving Queensland’s manufacturers, retailers and exporters.
Fisherman Islands contains container parks, vehicle storage and processing areas, warehouses and the Brisbane Multimodal Terminal. Road and rail connections link this waterfront with inland transport, while separate river berths handle commodities requiring their own loading equipment and shore facilities.
The cargo mix extends from machinery and building materials to grain and other agricultural exports. Petroleum products use dedicated or shared liquid cargo berths elsewhere in the river system. Brisbane therefore operates through a series of working precincts, each contributing a different part of the region’s maritime supply chain.
